Hamilton is getting ready to celebrate a huge milestone in Australian aviation history.
On Sunday 15 February 2026, the Sir Reginald Ansett Transport Museum and Hamilton Airport will host a special community event marking the 90th Anniversary of Ansett Airways’ first flight, along with 35 years of the Ansett Transport Museum
It’s a big birthday, and everyone’s invited.
There’ll be plenty to see and do for aviation fans, history lovers, families and anyone keen for a relaxed day out.
On display and in action throughout the day:
There’ll also be a BBQ at the airport (cash only), plus coffee vans at both the museum and the airport, so you won’t go hungry or uncaffeinated
This event isn’t just about planes and transport. It’s about celebrating the legacy of Sir Reginald Ansett, the history built right here in Hamilton, and the community that continues to support and preserve it.
Whether you remember flying with Ansett, love vintage vehicles, or just want a great local event to enjoy with friends and family, this is one not to miss.
